Owned and operated by Katrina Morrison and located in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Vom Engelsherz has been long in the making, though only now officially established in 2026.
 
Katrina started her journey with show line Siberian huskies from 2011 to 2017, importing from top kennels on multiple continents and feverishly studying pedigrees day in and day out.

 

Throughout this time, she learned about the importance of breed-specific health testing, the nuances of different kennels and lines, and gained a thorough understanding of conformation and function, all of which would shape what would one day become VEGS LLC.
 
Though her Siberians won championships, no breedings took place.

 

In 2016 she purchased her first wolf dog, a breed that had captured her attention years before with their striking aesthetics and wild, formidable presence.

 

This became a crucial learning phase as the execution in purchasing dogs was sadly not well thought out and quickly became a financial burden. 
 
In 2017, tragedy struck when the high content wolf dog pup she had anxiously been waiting for had a freak accident resulting in a fatal head injury at only 7 weeks of age.

 

This was a major turning point. Falco was to be the crux of the breeding program Katrina was envisioning, and with his tragic, unexpected passing, so went the passion, drive and dream.

 

His passing, coupled with the financial debt accumulated in the process of building the kennel too quickly, resulted in the ultimate decision to sell all but two of the dogs: Suzuki, her first dog (Siberian husky), and Steel, the show line German Shepherd who lives here today.
 
With sadness in her heart, Katrina’s dream was shattered and shelved away, thought to be a heart breaking part of the past.

 

But some dreams refuse to die. And in late 2018, the gnawing returned, insatiable and unyielding. However, this time, German Shepherds held her attention, as Steel was proving to be not only a beautiful dog, but also an exceptional companion.

 

Katrina realized that she had enjoyed working with show line huskies, but there was something more alluring about working lines. She was enthralled by their raw capacity to work and so she began the deep dive into researching GSD working lines.
 
Katrina purchased the first working line GSD in 2021 from a German-imported sire and Slovenian-imported dam from an American kennel.

 

In 2022, the second male working line GSD was imported from Slovakia, Laios Midollyk, aka Hatter, and is already a proven stud of the A-litter.

 

Katrina quickly learned that the absolute greatest German Shepherds of working-line descent are in Europe, therefore, all foundation dogs were imported thereafter.  

 

Vom Engelsherz strives to breed only the greatest dogs on a world-level scale using FCI and European standards.
 
Between 2024 and 2025, female imports were purchased who are currently undergoing training and titling in the Czech Republic, with two females scheduled to come home by the end of 2026 to have their first import litters and another two females arriving in 2027 with the goal of IGP3 titles being attained.
